SPNB Is Committed To Provide Affordable Homes In Line With The Aspirations Of Malaysia Madani
KOTA BHARU, 12th May 2023 – YBhg. Datuk M Noor Azman bin Taib, Chief Secretary of KPKT, representing YB Tuan Nga Kor Ming (YB KM), Minister of Local Government Development (KPKT), handed over keys to home recipients under the Rumah Mesra Rakyat Program (RMR) and awarded outstanding contractors at the Key Handover and Appreciation Ceremony for the RMR Program in the state of Kelantan, held in Kota Bharu this evening.
The ceremony, held for the first time in the state of Kelantan, was also attended by YBrs. Tuan Haji Suhaimi bin Ali@Ahmad, Deputy Chief Secretary (Housing and Community Wellbeing) of KPKT; YBhg. Datuk Husam bin Musa, Chairman of the Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB); and YBhg. Datuk Hasleen bin Isnin, Chief Executive Officer of SPNB, as well as senior officials from the Ministry, Departments, and Agencies under KPKT.
To date, the state of Kelantan has received a total of 13,719 applications since the program was introduced in 2002. From January to April 2023, Kelantan has received 740 applications, with 662 applications still on the waiting list.
Due to the overwhelming response received, the government aims to construct a total of 500 special RMR units for applicants in Kelantan this year, involving a RM10 million subsidy from the Federal Government.
According to YBhg. Datuk KSU, "The construction of RMR has made Kelantan the state with the highest number of RMR constructions in Malaysia compared to other states."
He added, "KPKT highly appreciates the RMR recipients in Kelantan who have shown a good repayment record to SPNB. This repayment trend has helped SPNB generate initial capital for the construction of other RMR units and indirectly, RMR owners in Kelantan have contributed to the construction of more RMR units nationwide."
Since the introduction of this program, 9,260 RMR units have been successfully built in the state of Kelantan, involving a subsidy allocation of RM185 million from the Federal Government.
The ceremony also celebrated and appreciated the outstanding RMR contractor teams who have been committed to constructing RMR units within the specified time frame in Kelantan. There are 526 active contractors in Kelantan, and overall, 5,286 contractors are registered under SPNB to implement RMR construction nationwide.
The RMR program is one of the initiatives of the Federal Government that is seen in line with the concept of Madani Housing, based on a more humane administrative policy for all Malaysians.
