SPNB Hands Over A Rumah Mesra Rakyat Home To The Widow Of A Former Kelantan And National Football Player
PASIR PUTEH, 11 AUGUST 2024 – YBhg. Datuk Husam bin Musa, Chairman of Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB), today handed over the keys to a Rumah Mesra Rakyat (RMR) home to the widow of a former Kelantan and National football player under the SPNB Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program in the Pasir Puteh Parliamentary constituency.
The handing over of the RMR keys is part of the assistance provided by SPNB to the recipient, Puan Suhaini binti Muhamad Asri, the widow of the late Wan Ezila bin Wan Daud, as a tribute to his service representing the country in the national football arena.
This RMR donation is an initiative by YBhg. Datuk Husam Musa as the Chairman of SPNB, marking the first time a home has been given to a national football star under the SPNB CSR program, in recognition of the athlete’s contributions and sacrifices during their active sporting career for the nation.
Earlier, on 9 June 2024, YBhg. Datuk Husam Musa held a groundbreaking ceremony symbolizing the construction of the RMR valued at RM75,000.00. The contractor began construction on 25 June 2024, and it was completed and ready for occupancy by 11 August 2024, taking only 47 days to complete.
The RMR program was established to assist target groups who do not own a house or live in dilapidated homes but have land to build their own comfortable and decent homes. According to Datuk Husam Musa, the current price of an RMR starts from RM75,000.00 depending on the area, with a subsidy of RM20,000.00 provided by the government for each application. "This means that the monthly payment for the RMR program is as low as RM300.00 per month for 16 years."
In addition, SPNB also offers the RMR 2.0 Program, where the eligibility criteria for obtaining RMR 1.0 and RMR 2.0 are the same, including a household monthly income not exceeding RM5,000. However, the difference is that applicants for RMR 1.0 are required to mortgage their land to SPNB for a loan of RM55,000 for 16 years, but approval is subject to a waiting list. For RMR 2.0, the remaining construction cost of RM55,000 after subsidies must be paid in cash to SPNB, and the owner is not required to mortgage the land. Additionally, the construction process is much faster as there is no need to wait for approval.
Applications can be made through the SPNB website at www.spnb.com.my or by visiting SPNB branches across Malaysia, including Sabah and Sarawak. "Therefore, those interested in this program can apply as mentioned," he added.
Since the RMR program was introduced in 2002 until the end of July 2024, SPNB has successfully built 10,451 units of RMR in the state of Kelantan. Overall, SPNB has successfully built 66,424 units of RMR across the country.
SPNB remains committed to ensuring that housing projects under the supervision of the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) are prioritized in empowering the housing agenda and the well-being of the entire population through the Malaysia Madani framework.
