KELANTAN, 18 JUNE 2023 - The Honorable Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister, has officiated the Rumah Mesra Rakyat (RMR) Key Handover Session to home recipients in Kelantan this evening.

The handover session held at one of the recipient's homes in Kota Bharu was also attended by YBhg Datuk Husam bin Musa, Chairman of SPNB, and YBhg Datuk Hasleen bin Isnin, Chief Executive Officer of SPNB.

Under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP), the Government has targeted to construct 500,000 units of affordable homes to enhance homeownership opportunities for the B40 and M40 groups, with SPNB allocated to build 15,000 units of RMR nationwide by the year 2025.

In line with the Government's aspiration, SPNB is confident in implementing 15,000 Rumah Mesra Rakyat (RMR) between 2021 and 2025, as stipulated in the 12MP, starting from early 2024.

According to YBhg Datuk Husam bin Musa, for the year 2023, SPNB has already constructed 3,545 units of RMR, comprising 2,558 units currently under construction and 987 units that have been completed.

"Through an allocation of RM358 million announced in the previous 2023 Budget, SPNB aims to complete a total of 4,250 units of RMR nationwide by December 2023."

"SPNB is confident that the Government will approve an additional allocation of over RM354 million to achieve the target of 15,000 RMR units next year, to accommodate the increasing demand for Rumah mesra Rakyat," he added.

Since the introduction of RMR in 2002 until May 2023, SPNB has successfully constructed a total of 57,452 units of RMR nationwide, with 4,463 units currently under construction. The waiting list for subsidies consists of 5,762 applicants, and 87,886 applicants are in the process of application.

The RMR program is one of the initiatives under the purview of Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB), established to assist the targeted group without homes or living in dilapidated houses but possessing land to build their own comfortable and complete homes.

SPNB remains committed to ensuring housing projects for the entire population under the supervision of the Ministry of Local Government and Housing (KPKT) are prioritized to empower the housing agenda and overall well-being of the people, in line with the framework of Malaysia MADANI.
