SPNB Holds Awareness Programme To Attract RMR Unit Buyers In Maran
New Straits Times
MARAN: In its bid to enable the people to own affordable homes, Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB) completed the construction of 48,316 units of People-Friendly Homes (RMR).
Housing and local government deputy minister Datuk Seri Dr Ismail Abd Mutalib said currently, there are a total of 92,905 RMR unit applicants nationwide with 6,606 identified as successful applicants.
"The RMR units cater to low-income earners with a salary of below RM3,000 a month. The applicants can either be those who have yet to purchase their own homes or those living in dilapidated units but have land to build a comfortable house.
"Under the 2022 Budget, an allocation of RM315 million has been set aside for the RMR programme. It will be used to build 3,000 units next year," said SPNB in a statement today.
Ismail, who is the Maran member of parliament, said 4,228 RMR units have been built throughout Pahang with 7,557 interested applications received in the system and 253 applicants listed as successful.
"In the Maran parliamentary constituency, 809 applications were received with only 18 successful applicants. Those under the low-income groups both B40 and B50 around Maran are urged to seize the opportunity to register with the RMR programme for a chance to own these units," he said.
Meanwhile, SPNB, the national housing development company for affordable homes, held a briefing session to create awareness on the RMR programme at the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Silver Jubilee hall near here yesterday.
The programme was launched by Ismail.
Also in attendance were Pahang SPNB branch chairman Datuk Ahmad Islanizam A. Halim and district officer Sharuddin Jali.
